Fall has become a popular time of year to get married; the season is rife with color as summer draws to a close, making it a beautiful time of year. So when it comes to choosing your wedding favors take some inspiration from the season itself.

Here are a few fabulous wedding favor ideas to get you started:

Candles " a perennial favorite for favors at any time of year, candles seem particularly suited to the fall, as the evenings get darker sooner. Depending on the style of your wedding you could choose some quite different types of candle for your favors.

Colored tea lights in autumnal shades with pretty colored glass holders make for beautiful favors with a seasonal feel, but which are not too fall orientated. Alternatively if you wanted something with a fall theme then look out for candles shaped like leaves or pumpkins, the latter being easy to find in the fall months as Halloween fast approaches.

For something more sophisticated look to plain ivory votive or pillar candles. Decorate them with natural colored raffia, string or even straw and add a coordinating thank you tag.

Recipes " fall is traditionally associated with harvest when crops are brought into storage ready for the onset of winter, so recipes which incorporate some of those crops in their ingredients make particularly fitting wedding favors.

You can print out single recipes on your computer at home and present them rolled up scroll fashion. Choose dishes such as soups, casseroles, stews and treats like carrot cake and cinnamon cookies. It would be a nice idea to print out several different recipes and to give a different one to those guests who are couples, for instance he gets a recipe for a hearty stew, whilst she gets one for a delicious fruit cake.

If printing your own doesnt appeal then take a tour around the book stores " both real and online, for some mini cook books which are perfectly sized (and priced!) as favors.

Edibles " eternally popular with couples and guests alike, edible favors never fail to delight. Custom cookies shaped and iced in fall themes, such as leaves, pumpkins etc make for fun favors. Alternatively bake your own cookies with autumnal flavors and give your guests a cookie selection bag.

Mini cakes have been popular for a few years now, either as an alternative to a formal wedding cake or in addition to. Flavors such as carrot cake, ginger or cinnamon all make nice choices for a fall wedding, add some colored fondant icing and sugar craft toppers to complete them.
