Your life is a reflection of your attitudes. Sometimes, attitude is one essential mental sphere of life that individuals wrestle with some difficulty or with great ease; the reason being that how one looks at life differs from one individual to another.
A positive attitude, however, is not a destination. It is a way of life. If you really want to be happy, no one can stop you from being happy. That’s the way it is.
Arthur C. Benson has said: “The essence of happy living is never to find life dull, never feel the ugly weariness which comes to overstrain; to be fresh, cheerful, leisurely, sociable, unhurried, well-balanced. It seems to me impossible to be these things unless we have time to consider life a little, to deliberate, to select, to abstain.” Likewise, this Biblical verse from Ephesians 4:31 holds deep meaning in life in having an attitude of forgiveness and kindness: “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing be put away from you, with all malice: and be kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other.”
The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible. It is attitude, not aptitude that determines your happiness. A positive person is a seed of a positive result, and we know that as a universal phenomenon. On this note, it’s like envisioning that if you make a child happy now, you will make them happy twenty years hence by the memory of it.
The biggest mistake of all that you sometimes make is to overcome situations in which you might make a mistake. However, you will only go as far as you think you can go because the positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible. If you don’t like something else, change it! If you can’t change what you want to change - change your attitude – just don’t complain. Right attitudes produce right actions. I once came across my readings this poetical line from Jean Paul Richter. He said: “Go through life with soft influences breathing around thee. Keep thy heart high above the many-colored mist of earth and above its storm clouds.”
In Julio Melara’s book It Only Takes Everything You’ve Got, Julio, in the very beginning of his book he wrote that reading gets his attitude right for the day…. writing gets his creative juices flowing …. and running gets his body in better shape. Julio Melara lives on a “quest to be the best”…. “a man on fire.”
It makes a lot of sense when Julio Melara writes about himself meeting thousands of people who want to change their circumstances but don’t want to change themselves. “In order to change your external circumstances”, he said, “you must change the things going on inside your minds and hearts.” This would mean that you must re-examine and re-evaluate the way you think and the way you respond to life’s daily challenges. And it all begins with “taking action”, he claims.
If you think you’ve already made your life 100%, it’s because your attitude is everything! Sure you can do everything but we also know that you can NOT do it all at once – unless it is really important enough for you to do so. As they say, whether a glass is half-full or half-empty depends on the attitude of the person looking at it. So there is a way to do it. Find it.
America’s past President Abraham Lincoln was one great model who manifested to mankind the relationship between our choices and their effects on who we are. Interestingly, Lincoln claimed that “Every man over 40 is responsible for his face. Who you are and how you think can be read in your face, too” he said.
Attitude is so vital in your purpose of life and happiness that Norman Vincent Peale himself commented:
“Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure.”
