Setting goals and achieving them are two totally different things. I believe that you can achieve any goal that you set as long as it is set properly. Here is a goal setting example that will give you a guide line for your own goals.

The goal setting example that I will use is losing 20 pounds since losing weight is one of the most common goals set. The first thing that you need to do is be specific in your goal. A goal to lose weight is very none specific. Losing 20 pounds is fine tunes it. Now you need to set a time frame for your goal. You don’t want to set a time frame so that it’s nearly impossible to do but you don’t want to set it out so far that you lose the motivation to do it.

So let’s say the goal is to lose one pound per week therefore taking 5 months to lose the 20 pounds. Now you have broken the goal down into weekly, bite size mini goals. Once you have done that it’s important to know what needs to be done to reach those mini goals. So you might create an action plan to go to gym 3 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes plus run for 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes. As well as eating healthier. You can break down the eating healthier part to make it more specific as well.

So what you have just done is set a goal that is specific, measurable, timed, responsible, and evident once you reach it. If you follow this goal setting example for other goals in your life you will find that they will be much easier to achieve. You have a great goal now. The most important part now is to implement it and follow the goal until you achieve it.
