Every moment in life is precious and not to be taken for granted. Every experience has meaning to be derived from it. I see each moment and each experience as opportunities to learn, grow, develop, and change. With all that happens in our lives, we can learn from whatever seems positive or negative and make new choices to improve ourselves. These are life’s lessons that are gifts if we choose to see them in that light.
What has meaning to you? Which people, events, activities have significance to you? Most people are more in tune with what they dislike or don’t want to do. You need to strive for the opposite. Search for what has meaning to you. Is it family, friends, or your home? Is it how you express yourself both personally and professionally? Is it through the image you present, the people you surround yourself with, the choices you make?
Does the pursuit of money envelope most of your time? Does it rate highest on your list of what has the most meaning? So many people live lives of rote—doing what they’ve always done without exploring why they are doing it. They’ve spend little time in personal development exploring what has real meaning to them, then wonder why they don’t feel satisfied and content.
To honor the practice of making meaning in your life, you need to first discover what has meaning to you, and then spend time pursuing it. If you take some time to look deep within, and perhaps journal what you find, you will come up with answers to understand more of the type of person you are and what motivates you. Everyone places meaning and value on different aspects of their lives. Is this the time for you to find what has the most value in yours? What could you not live without? What do you treasure above all else? These are what you need to place as priorities in your life.
Take time now to discover what has meaning for you in your personal life and in your business. Then take action on whatever you’ve discovered—spending time with family, friends, and interests; building your own business from home? Ask those around you what has meaning for them. By learning what your family and friends find valuable, you can enrich their lives and build deeper relationships. By learning what your clients find significant, you can honor and respect their choices and build stronger relationships. And by revealing what has meaning for you, you allow others to honor your choices and add to your life.
Invest more time in the practice of making meaning for you and those you care about. Your life and the lives of those you touch will be that much richer.
