So many of us wander through life thinking we have everything together. I have a fool proof way to see if you really do have it together. You will be able to tell with one question.
Are you successful with money?
I don’t mean are you wealthy beyond belief. I’m talking about are you drowning in debt? (You may be and not even know it.) A good way to tell if you are in over your head is to list all your debts in a column and then all your assets and/or things that actually go up in value (like a house or an investment) in another column.
Now compare. Which column has the largest number after adding it all up? If we do this we may find that we are not as “together” as we appear to be? So the question again, “Are you having success with money?”
Here I am, a Las Vegas author and I ask the question “Are women Alpha Babes or Savvy Power Women? Are we men bashers or classy and sexy while being a force in Corporate America?”
The really big question: What are we?
I was facing this dilemma while working to create a new web site. Seems like an easy task. You buy a domain name and off you go. But which domain name? I have bought so many I could open my own store! Well, I have learned from the marketing guru’s “Ask others”. So I did. Some marketing advisors said use a web site name that will attract women by the shock factor. Some said no, women need respect so stop calling them babes!
One website for women is called pinkmagazine after the new magazine PINK; a very well respected group of women have put this together with support from some popular names like Ann Curry of NBC. The magazine describes itself as “Forbes meets Oprah”.
You’re reading this for a purpose. You want something. You need something. You want to become something. You want to have something. You want to do something.
Two words only – You Want.
Human beings; You and I, are goal-seeking machines. Well, maybe ‘machines’ is too crude a word to use. Our brains are goal-seeking mechanisms.
Now let’s think about this thing called “You Want”-ism. Let’s say you want to be a more confident speaker.
What (effective) questions can you ask yourself that will lead you to the right thinking that in turn will lead you to the right decisions and the right actions, and lastly to your desired goal (becoming a more confident speaker)?
3 questions, actually.
“3 Questions To Rule Them All,” I’d say.
These 3 questions are the most important, and they are like templates for ANY goal or outcome you want to achieve.
Wealth and riches which never lose their value and which can never be stolen are offered to all who wish to receive them.
Have you ever wanted to be truly blessed, and your life enriched abundantly?
Many people seek this but do not know where to find such wealth.
God shows us how we can be blessed, and He indicates the path of blessing, and for blessing. Of course, He also warns us what will happen if we ignore His ways.
There is a very real blessing to be received and enjoyed when a man takes his counsel from men of God.
Blessed is the person who comes to God, and God’s Word, and to God’s men, for advice, and help in time of trouble and need.
If we take the wrong counsel and advice, we will find ourselves hanging around in the company of those who do not know Jesus or keep His Word, and that will do us no good.
We learn so many lessons from those we are around growing up. People basically are products of their environments. Our personalities, beliefs, tendencies, and habits mostly are a result of the influence of the people we interact with on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the lessons we are taught generally do not lead to a happy and prosperous life. It seems that we are ultimately taught to conform and settle into the mold that “society” feels we ought to fit into.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the area of dreaming. As children, we spend most of our days dreaming. The world of imagination is our reality. There are no boundaries to what the mind can conjure up. If it can create it, then we can do. Regardless of what is going on around us, we can transform ourselves into anything that we want to be.
Perhaps “goal setting for a kid” hits you with the bizarre picture in your mind’s eye of a first grader drawing up “smart” goals in a day planner or on their PlayStation PDA?
Relax! Put your grownup concepts of goal setting on the back burner and start to see possibilities in the world with childlike eyes. This article looks at how goal setting for a kid of junior school age can be woven into the natural fabric of their daily living — and be fun too!
Start off by resolving to make goal setting fun for your kid. There will come a time when more serious planned activities will appear in his or her life — but for now I suggest you focus purely on a fun event about a month in the future.
How often have you listened to that inner voice within you – a word of praise “aren’t you special!’, a positive reinforcement about yourself ‘go for it, you can do it!‘, or even an outright discouragement ‘you are just not worth it!’. This is your self-esteem speaking. Self-esteem is one’s appraisal of one’s worth. Self-esteem is an index of the amount of confidence and satisfaction you have in yourself. Self esteem is the collection of beliefs we have about ourselves.
This voice speaks in two ways – it can be positive and reassuring for some – for those who have a high self-esteem. At the same time, for those with a low self-esteem, this inner voice constantly criticizes, pulls them down, and negates their achievements.
The characteristics of a low self-esteem individual are all too evident, degrees, of course may vary – non-risk taker; looks for approvals externally; fears rejection; insecure, anxious, nervous with others; irrational beliefs.
“Achieve more by doing less” said Dr Wayne Dyer. It sounds nonsensical at first but there is a powerful truth behind this statement and it is a key time management and success strategy whether successful people use it consciously or not.
There are several ways to achieving more by doing less and becoming super-productive. Let’s take a brief look at three ways this goal can be achieved.
1. Do things in a calm, relaxed manner
Have you ever noticed how frenetic some people are in doing their activities? When you work in a calm, relaxed manner you achieve more in less time.
I once watched former 400m athlete, Roger Black, take part in a celebrity chef competition. His kitchen looked liked a disaster zone. There were ingredients scattered everywhere. He was preparing food on every surface imaginable. Sweat was pouring from his brow. He looked tense and stressed and barely finished in the allotted time.
I recently read a wonderful, spiritual and enlightening book by Marlo Morgan, entitled “Mutant Message Down Under”.
While the story is technically classified as fiction, it was done so because she would not provide real names, locations and other information about the Aboriginals she traveled with for four months as they did a “Walkabout” in the Australian Outback.
The image you see here is, Uluru, now called Ayers Rock but was once a sacred Aboriginal site for the gathering of the nations. All the art, historical carvings and relics have been removed. The graves were robbed and the altars stripped bare.
This is a 50,000 year culture and these people have a perspective that has much to teach us “Mutants”. We are called Mutants not because they believe we are mutations in the sense that we are abnormal, but because we have moved away from our connection with the Divine Oneness. They, on the other hand have retained that connection and call themselves the Real People.
Well, right, to success, you must have a plan. Make sure that you will come out with a plan after finished reading this article. Only when you have a plan, then you will know where you are heading, and what you should do to achieve them. It is useless if you have great dreams and great goals, but you don’t have a plan which will lead you there.
What if you don’t have a plan? You will end up in other people’s plan. Yes, indeed, if you don’t have a plan, then you will end up becoming part of people’s plan. If you don’t have a plan, then it will be the same as you’ve arrive to a new city and don’t know where you wanted to go. You will end up in nowhere. Having a plan is equally important as having a clear goal. A goal without a plan is just a dream.
