How To Optimise The Tiny Little Fragments Of Free Time That We Have
By Mohamad Latiff
You have most probably heard of this quotation that goes something like, “If you want to know the value of one second, ask the athlete who came in second place; If you want to know the value of one minute, ask the worker who missed his train to work.”
I have not the memory nor the space nor the time to quote it here fully, but I wish to acknowledge the fact that we do get that occasional amount of precious free time, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes (depending upon your level of productivity and efficiency in whatever it is that mostly occupies your day).
The IIM Group Discussion and subsequent
Personal Interview has become one of the most used
methods for screening of candidates for the IIM
MBA admission procedure. Cracking the GD/PI
requires similiar preparation as made for the actual
CAT exam.
To prepare adequately for the IIM GD process one
should begin with the following tips:
1) Start acquiring knowledge of solutions: Don’t read
the news papers merely to understand what’s going
on. If you are reading about the growth of Special
export Zones in India and the Nandigram violence -
then make the effort to understand how it could
have been avoided.
In our current overworked and stressed out society, it is easy to believe that you are doing something useful and worthwhile when in fact, you could just be doing what amounts to busywork. While you do get the rush and feeling that you are doing something, you have got to ask yourself if that is really what you should be doing. What if - whatever you are busily doing is just - activity designed to keep you busy?
You can always be successful in your job, in achieving your goals only when you are optimistic. You may ask, what do I mean by “Be Optimistic”? By being optimistic, I mean to be positive, think positive. You should always have a positive bent of mind in any work that you do. Because a positive bent of mind inculcates positive feelings within you to achieve your goal. With the positive feelings, our willpower increases to do the job perfectly.
Let us understand this by taking an example of how to be optimistic, a positive thinker.
Here are practical, easy to apply techniques that will help. Once the initial, analytical stage is completed, the techniques outlined here are simple ones that can be applied on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, as a matter of routine.
Preparation Week: the first step is the most time consuming one: analysing your current situation. To establish in what condition your management of time is at this moment, you will need to complete at least a week, perhaps two, of preparation. You will also need to make note of any activities that fall on a monthly basis, such as team meetings, or budget performance reviews.
Scheduling is best practiced when it is done regularly; for instance, at the beginning of the week or month. When you schedule your activities you may want to follow some steps which would serve as helpful pointers to help you get organized:
Begin your planner by specifying the schedule and the amount of time you will allot for the task. Of course this will vary with the kind of and requirements for the task and with the objectives and goals you have set.
Working at home can be a dream come true and a curse at the same time. Of course if you ask most people, they’d jump on the idea of working at home if they could find something legitimate that would bring in the right amount of income. I mean who would say no to something so perfect? But if you’re not careful you could find yourself working during all of your waking hours (and maybe some of your sleeping hours as well).
